Lucknow Charbagh Nr LKO Railway Station

Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station, officially known as Lucknow NR Railway Station, is the largest and busiest railway station in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. It lies on the Varanasi–Lucknow line and connects Lucknow with Kanpur, Varanasi, Delhi, and several other major cities across India. The station also serves as the administrative headquarters of the Lucknow NR Railway Division.

Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station (LKO) is located next to Lucknow Junction (LJN) within the same Charbagh railway complex. The station is also one of Lucknow’s well-known heritage buildings. Its red-and-white building, with large domes, arches, and towers, looks similar to a royal palace and combines Rajput and Mughal styles of architecture.

Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station is currently being modernised under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Even while the work is underway, Lucknow NR Railway Station has several facilities to make long-distance train journeys easier and more comfortable for passengers: 

• AC and Non-AC Waiting Rooms

Both free non-AC and paid AC waiting rooms are available at Lucknow NR Railway Station for passengers who arrive before their train. You can use these areas to sit and wait instead of staying on the platform.

• Retiring Rooms & Dormitories

You can book AC and non-AC retiring rooms on an hourly basis (or for the entire day) using your confirmed PNR. Depending on your budget and needs, you can choose between dormitory rooms with common washrooms and more private Deluxe rooms with separate washrooms.

• Food & Refreshments

There is a food plaza serving snacks and meals near Platform 1 of the Charbagh Railway Station. You can also find small stalls and shacks selling tea, coffee, and snacks on the concourse.

Charbagh Railway Station operates under the Lucknow Division of the Northern Railway Zone.

Currently, Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station has 9 platforms. Two more terminal platforms are being added towards the Alam Nagar side as part of the station expansion to help ease train and passenger traffic.

• Distance from Airport & Bus Stand

The Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport is around 12.5 kilometers from Lucknow NR LKO Railway Station. 

The Charbagh Bus Station, on the other hand, is conveniently located outside the station (350 m away). You can walk from the bus station to the platforms within 3-5 minutes. 

• Parking Availability

Lucknow NR Railway Station has a smart parking area in front of the main entrance. Automatic barriers record how long your vehicle is parked, and the parking fee is charged based on the time.

Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station is located in a busy and well-connected part of the city. You can easily reach the station by using any of the following modes of transport:

• By Metro

Take the Lucknow Metro Red Line and get down at Charbagh Metro Station. The Metro station is close to the railway station, so you can walk to Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station from there.

• By Bus

You can take a local bus to the Charbagh Bus Stop and walk to the station. If you’re travelling by an intercity bus, you can get down at the Charbagh Bus Station and walk to the station. 

But remember to check your bus drop-off point before travelling, as intercity buses may also arrive at other bus terminals in Lucknow.

• By Auto-Rickshaw or Taxi

Autos are easily available throughout Lucknow and remain an affordable option to reach the station. If you are travelling with heavy luggage, you can also take a taxi or app-based cab to Lucknow Charbagh Station.

• From Lucknow Airport

You can take the Lucknow Metro Red Line from CCS Airport Metro Station towards the city and get down at Charbagh Metro Station. You can also take a taxi directly to the railway station.
